Pamela Doran Perkins, 45, has been charged with theft. Houston police said Perkins stole more than $22,000 from the preschool operations at Cleark Lake United Methodist Church. Jeremiah Nunan, 74, priest at Sacred Heart Parish in Cairo and Our Lady of Knock Mission in East Durham, has been placed on administrative leave for the second time in six years over allegations he sexually abused a minor.
civil suit, Fr. Jeremiah Nunan molested Martin Morales, an altar boy, from 1996 to 2003, at Sacred Heart church when Morales was 7 – 14 years old. Morales says that the abuse started again in 2007 when Morales was a young adult. Nunan paid Morales, who was unemployed and broke, what the lawsuit calls “hush money” to ensure that Morales kept quiet about the abuse. Morales is currently in prison for attempted murder.
Timothy J. Gorton, was defrocked as a priest assigned to Precious Blood parish and ordered him to move out of the rectory. Citing allegations of sexual misconduct that happened nearly 30 years ago, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence forced him out.
The allegations brought against him by his nephew, James C. Wilkinson state that Gorton fondled him in the rectory of a church in Cumberland in 1983 and, later that year, when Gorton allegedly exposed himself to him at a beach cottage in Narragansett. Despite the allegations, which have been forwarded to law enforcement, Gorton is not charged with any criminal offense.
Nine more people, alleging sexual abuse by priests, have filed suit against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. They join ten other alleged victims in charging that an archdiocesan conspiracy to protect priests allowed the abuse to occur.
The lawsuits claim procedures supposedly implemented by the Archdiocese to help victims of sexual abuse where instead used to assist the abusive priests and the Archdiocese to avoid liability.

Ball reportedly confessed to the incident. He was the pastor of Greenhill Baptist Church in Greeneville and resigned after the allegations were made.
Victor Koltun, 41, a Brooklyn rabbi, was charged in the contract killing of a former suburban police officer and his nephew. Koltun is accused of hiring two ex-cons to kill Frank Piscopo, 49, and Gerald Piscopo, 28, in Newburgh, Orange County.
After three years of stalling, Judge Nicholas De Rosa told the accused, “You’re looking at the last judge who’s going to preside in this case. It doesn’t matter to me if you sue me. It doesn’t matter to me if you threaten me…There’s going to be no more frivolous adjournments, no more delays.”
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange settled a sex-abuse and cover-up lawsuit with an accuser of former Monsignor Michael Harris, agreeing to pay an unusually high amount of $2 million to end a case that alleged a single incident of abuse.
Harris’ accuser is a decorated combat pilot in the Air Force who lives in Nevada. The 41-year-old married father of two young children, accused Harris of abusing him in late 1986 or early 1987 when Harris was principal of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana and he was a student there.
Thomas Harkins, 66, a defrocked priest, is being sued by Lisa Shanahan, a business executive now living in North Carolina, alleging she was sexually abused as a child 10 to 15 times by priest. Before the abuse, the diocese knew two other children had alleged they had been molested by Harkins, according to the suit.
Federal judge, Noel Hillman’s, decision to not dismiss a lawsuit against the Diocese of Camden for allegedly concealing the history of a priest accused of molesting three young girls, has been hailed as a significant legal advance for abuse victims.
Predator priest, Father Gerald Allen Funcheon admited the sexual abuse of children during 40 years of assignments in Indiana, Nebraska, Minnesota, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, California, on military bases in the United States and Germany and during travels to Spain.
A new lawsuit against Funcheon brought by two additional sexual abuse victims at Damien Memorial School in Honolulu. Funcheon, who worked at Damien Memorial School in the early 1980’s, has been accused of sexual abuse by three Hawaii men and more than two dozen men on the mainland. Funcheon has been named in several lawsuits in states around the country, including Indiana, Minnesota and California.
